The Ad Title that Sells the Business
by Mike Merritt Business Sell Canada
It's the Ad's TITLE that helps Sell the Business
The "Title" of your listing is a very important of your Listing Ad.
It is what is shown in all of the Buyer searches (along with your asking price and your
province/region). You should grab the Buyer's attention with it - and show
him/her the opportunities that are available if they were to buy your business.
Buyers want to buy an interesting business that's established and currently making
money. They want a business that is easy to run at a price that they can
afford. They want to be able to earn their investment back in as short a time
as possible. You have 80 characters (letters and spaces) in the ad
"Title" to draw in a potential buyer to click through to read the full
details on your listing page.
You're not going to draw in a buyer with a boring Title like:
"Store for sale". He/she's going
to pass on by ... and while we can give you great exposure on the site for
your "Title"; until the prospective buyer reads your ad details page
(where your email address is shown); he/she's not going to be contacting you and
therefore not going to be buying your business. You should work at using all
available 80 character spaces for your "Title" wording.
You don't need to say: "For Sale" in the Title
- that is obvious. What you really need to do is to use encouraging words
that make a potential buyer feel motivated to read further about your Business
For Sale. Pack them in - buyer impression is more important than good grammar.
How about:
Established, Profitable Convenience Store - Easy to Run with Loyal Customers
... who wouldn't want to know more ...
Or:
Major Sporting Goods Dealership - Manager & Staff in place; Repeat customers
... looks good to me !
You can also mention some of the business' best features ...
20 unit Motel, Profitable, Modern, Sat. TV, near Beach and Tourist Attractions
... I want to stay there !
Make sure the buyer knows what your business does to make it's money ...
Automated Packaging of Snack Foods - sold Wholesale to National Chains
... or ...
Wholesale Bakery/Pastries w. own Delivery Trucks to London area restaurants
... looks like they've got both product and sales figured out !
When you make the "Title" of your Listing sound encouraging and enticing
- it implies that the business that you have For Sale is well established, is well
thought out, and is currently making money. A bland, boring "Title"
tends to imply that the current owner just wants to get rid of the operation and
to move on with his life.
Think about how the new buyer would see it and what would motivate him/her to contact you.
Say to yourself: "If I was just starting out; would I be
interested in buying this business based on what the Title says ?"
