The Importance of Photos in an Effective For-Sale Ad
by Mike Merritt Business Sell Canada
Effective Photos are a big part of Advertising your Business For Sale
Photos of the business are a big part of the ad that you create to sell your business.
Buyers are motivated by a favourable photo of the business establishment, its products and
its customers. While showing an empty stainless steel kitchen in a restaurant may
look clean and neat - a photo of a busy chef and staff with actual food being prepared becomes
a real motivator for the prospective Buyer. An empty parking lot as big as a football
field means nothing to a Buyer if there aren't any customers' cars parked there showing
that people are coming in to do business with you. Gasoline pumps aren't worth
anything if there isn't a customer filling up his car, or better yet, his gas guzzling
heavy truck.
There's room for two or three photos in your ad here at
www.BusinessSellCanada.com, and
you can always save any extras to email to interested Buyers. You can decide to
show both the inside and the outside of the building; but remember to include happy,
paying customers in the photos. Don't show the outside of a dull gray building
during a snow storm. Show a bright, cheery building under a blue sky and with
a customer with his hand on the door knob going in. Also, include an emotional
picture with the ad - a customer lifting food to his mouth in a restaurant; a crane
lifting heavy equipment onto a flatbed truck; a car on a hoist with a mechanic working
underneath; a sales agent on the phone to a customer; a well dressed clothing model
in the window of your clothing store. Don't show a long row of shelves with cans
of food on them - show a customer with a baby, holding a can considering which brand
of baby food to buy. Show a "Winner" at the Lottery terminal.
Show a smiling customer in his new car, or wearing his new suit, or pointing to
a wedding cake that she wants to buy.
Photos in the ad also work well for those businesses that are more remote or are
difficult to understand what the business produces or its services. The potential
Buyer has to understand what the business does, in order that he/she can decide whether
they want to contact you about it and ask more questions.
The goal of photos in your Business For Sale ad is to motivate the Buyers to contact you
and to ask questions and to begin negotiations. If Buyers are bored by your ad, or
just don't understand what you do with the business; they'll wander off and look for something
else more interesting to invest their money in. A "motivated" ad, just
naturally implies that the business is active and making money and worth its asking
price.
