Choose Effective Listing Categories

How to Choose Effective Categories for your Listing
There are multitudes of different possible business classifications that you
could use to list your "Business For Sale" in. How do you decide
which category pages will be the most effective for you? Which ones will draw
the most potential buyers to your Listing Ad?
The goal for you here is not to try to specifically define the particular
operation of the business that you're selling - like:
"Children's Clothing for ages 3 to 6 yr olds"
... but rather to choose that your For Sale listing will be located in
a larger, more general category where suitable buyers are already looking,
and where they will be more likely to find you,
and then they can click through to read your For Sale Ad details and contact you.
If the business that you're selling is a common business (like a restaurant);
then you want to be listed in the same categories that all of the other
restaurant sellers have chosen - even if you don't think that it applies
exactly to your situation. However, if what you're selling is a
relatively unique business, then you want to be in the general category
that relates to what you do (like Repairs and Maintenance) even if it puts
you in a divergent mix of other businesses such as Car Repairs, House Repairs,
Building Maintenance, House Cleaning, Equipment Repairs, etc. ...
Very few potential buyers who are browsing through this site, start out
with the intent of buying, say, a "Pool
Cleaning business in Weyburn, SK" but what actually happens
is that they will come across your listing in their browsing of other available
business offerings (the ones that they think that they want) and
will see it, read it, and say: "I could
do that!" and think that they might enjoy operating your
particular type of business. The goal here is to get traffic for
your particular Listing and from it, to get interested inquiries.
With a Buyer inquiry, you can get on with the business of
"Selling" your business.
Business buyers want to buy an successful business.
The more description that you give, the more that they will be drawn
to it. But first, they have to find you; and that means listing
your Ad in a Category that a potential buyer is looking in. She
may not be looking to run a Children's Clothing store - but will be
searching on the "Children & Youth"
pages because she likes children and wants to interact with them.
When she sees your Store For Sale listing, and along with the
word "Profitable" - she might be motivated to contact you.
Buyers want to buy an interesting business that is established and
currently making money. They want a business that is easy to
run at a price that they can afford. They want to be able to
earn their investment back in as short a time as possible.
But first they need to see your Title, Price and Location on the
appropriate Browse pages of the site, and to click on that link
to read your ad details page (where your email address is shown)
and then they can contact you about buying your business.
Make sure that potential Buyers find your Listing Ad !
